Compensate as a first step
Compensating is good; As long as the compensation inscribes itself within the broader context of a CSR plan!
Entrepreneurs Without Frontiers (EWF) is an unsubsidized Non-Governmental organization (NGO), founded in 2007 by its creator and CEO, Werner Sels. Companies reduce their carbon footprint by supporting EWF’s forestry projects in the larger context of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme. Entrepreneurs Without Frontiers fight against the global warming driven progression of desertification. EWF creates forests at the margins of deserts so that fertile lands shall not be threatened. EWF takes the hardest way consciously. With our projects, we make the difference which allows to mitigate climate change in a clear and measurable fashion. “The South’s benefits” such as increase in opportunities, wealth, education, etc. are among the numerous advantages directly generated by our reforesting. But, investors and charity actors also earn in this “win-win” situation thanks to Verified Emission Reductions (VER) and Certified Emission Reductions (CER). The clear intention to endeavor in enterprises following a socially responsible way participates in a positive enterprise image towards clients. With the collaboration of governments and universities, EWF developed a social corporate responsibility reference following a scientifically founded methodology allowing to define a company’s CSR level. Following the results or the organization of a responsible enterprise, a company may obtain a CSR label.
