The poor have been seen for over fifty years as protégés of the state, relief organizations and humanitarians. They have become a backing and victims of an ideological conflict.

However, they are not a backing or a problem that needs to be solved. We have to take a look at our ideological prejudice, our elitist view on the poor, our incapacity of viewing them as active conscious consumers and professional producers.

To achieve this goal we need imagination, organization and new economic models. We can create a new world with a lot of opportunities if we no longer see the poor as victims or as a burden, but as creative and innovative initiators and conscious consumers.
Five billion new neglected consumers, with an enormous spending power as a contrast to individual spending power can become the future driving force of global growth.
